Talabarowari

Artist: Srinath Banerjee / Basanta Kumar Rana

The pandal welcomes you with an elaborate entrance made of a hypnotic criss-cross of coloured bamboos leading up to a 'Jhulan' set up. At one point of time, "Jhulan" used to be one of the favorite one day festivals of Bengali kids, which gave them a channel to express their creativity by setting up pretty little landscapes. The ritual revolves around the eternal love story of Lord Krishna and Radha which is projected in every corner of this pandal with Radha and Krishna professing their love for each other on swings. The decorations in the outer pandal are made of jute-ropes and 'paat' to highlight the use of this material as an environment friendly material. The shlokas of Chandi Paath have been made to come alive on the walls of this pandal.

The main mandapa is also a hanging swing with just the platform that hosts Goddess Durga being grounded. This inner mandapa is decorated with numerous animals heralding the arrival of Ma Durga. The intricate work on this mandapa has been created by the artisans of Orissa , who also responsible for creating the actual Jhulan mandapa at the Jagannath Temple – Orissa.

Chalta Agrani Sangha

Artist: Bhabatosh Sutar

In a bid to put focus on the panic stricken time that we human beings are undergoing, Chalta Agrani Sangha has chosen to draw some mythological references.

They have drawn the contours of the theme under the influence of a poem by Joy Goswami. Within the pandal they have depicted the life cycle of human beings through fibre sculptures. The main course of the theme is the urge of human beings to get rid of pain and the sting of humiliation. Godess Durga is being portrayed as "Woman Power" which can eradicate the curse from the society. Here the demon in the sculpture is shown as a human being who wants to flee this world of atrocities.

Mahisasur has two wings to signify his urge to leave this panic-torn life. This pain is portrayed as a pain that lives in the human mind. With blue plastic they have created multiple beautiful boats which depicts the image of a life boat flowing towards an uncertain and unknown direction. Bhabotosh Sutar is the artist of this beautiful theme.

In summary the theme "Hriday Premer Sirsho" or "Love flows from heart" is the message where love and affection overtake pain.
