Behala Debdaru Phatak

Artist: Manikdas

A tribute to Lord Krishna, the pandal has been designed and created by specialized craftsmen from Dhenkal, a small district from Orissa. The Pandal is made up of straws with different natural colours basis the age of the straws (1yr, 3yrs and 5yrs). The stories of Lord Krishna's life from his birth till his death has been projected beautifully using these straws and few pieces of cloth. At the entrance, there's also a workshop setup to teach the devotees the use of straws in different ways and also for them to experience it themselves.

The decorations inside are a visual treat and special kudos must be given to the craftsmen to create such beautiful architecture with simple straws.

Artist: Bhabatosh Sutar

A huge 'Dari palla' (Weighing Balance) greets you at the entrance, with multiple smaller "dari pallas" and is followed by objects of lesser weights as one ventures in, leading up to the Goddess draped in 'shola'(thermocol). The main thought behind this Pandal is that objects which seem heavy to us in life might not be as heavy as they actually weigh, where as something as light as "Shola" when on the Goddess becomes the "heaviest" of all! The boat shape interior symbolizes the flowing nature of life.

The inside ceiling is a visual treat with an approx. 18000 lights contained in metal containers. The transformation of heavy to light objects depicted by the pandal denotes that things get lighter as we move further in life and though "lightest", the ultimate goal is the "heaviest". A very profound thought is beautiful depicted in this pandal.
